Attending Events as Visiting Royalty

Attending different events throughout your year is part of your rodeo queen tenure. Plus, attending as visiting royalty to other queens events is a fun way to bond with the queen community. There are a variety of different events you can attend as visiting royalty including:

  1. Rodeos, possibly including school visits, help with mutton busting, etc.

  2. Pageants, especially new queen coronations in your area

  3. Fundraisers, Sponsor Events, Banquets, Dinners

But there are some important guidelines to follow from prior to just showing up, to during and after the event.

  1. Ask if you are allowed to attend the event as visiting royalty, usually Facebook messaging or emailing the coordinator is best, but sometimes contacting the current rodeo queen is appropriate. Biggest thing here, is if they specifically say no to you attending as visiting royalty for whatever reason, do not under any circumstances show up in crown and sash.

  2. Find out pertinent information: dress code, arrival time, and check-in information prior to the event

  3. Tickets, while lots of rodeo queens events are free if you arrive appropriately dressed in crown and sash, some events do have seat counts, dinner costs etcetera that require you to purchase a ticket. This is especially true if you are attending with a chaperone. Find out if you need to purchase a ticket for yourself or others prior to showing up to the event.

  4. Volunteer: Offer to help with whatever is going on during the event

  5. Always say Thank You, and try to say it individually to the event coordinators, current queen, and anyone you volunteer/work with.
